First step is to distribute.
(1/8)*8x + (1/8)*15 = 24
8/8x + 15/8 = 24

Now subtract 15/8 from both sides.
x = 24 - (15/8)
x = (192/8) - (15/8)
x = 177/8
x = 22.125
