To reduce to the lowest terms we notice that:

[tex]\frac{24}{36}=\frac{6\cdot4}{6\cdot6}=\frac{6\cdot2\cdot2}{6\cdot2\cdot3}[/tex]

now, we can eliminate the 6 and 2 that repeat in the numerator and denominator, thereforew the fraction in lowest terms is:

[tex]\frac{2}{3}[/tex]
