we have the following:

[tex]\begin{gathered} 7=\frac{x-8}{3} \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]

solving for x:

[tex]\begin{gathered} x-8=7\cdot3 \\ x=21-8 \\ x=13 \end{gathered}[/tex]
